IRS ERPA Designations

Launched by the Internal Revenue Service in 2009...

The ERPA program requires an individual to take a rigourous two-part Special Enrollment Examination, upon successful completion, it allows the individual to represent taxpayers before the IRS regarding specific retirement plan matters.  In 2005, the Advisory Committee on the Tax Exempt and Government Entities (ACT) recommended that the IRS develop the program to allow individuals who service retirement plans but who previously were not authorized to practice before the IRS to obtain the ERPA designation.

An ERPA is a professional who has successfully earned the privilege of representing clients regarding issues that arise involving the following programs:  the Employee Plans Determination Letter program; the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System; the Employee Plans Master and Prototype and Volume Submitter Programs, and IRS audits of qualified retirement plans.  ERPA's may also represent clients regarding 5500 and 5300 series forms, but not regarding actuarial forms or schedules.

RPCSI is pleased to have 3 out of the 5 ERPA's in Indiana.  Suzy Guck, Stacy Brown and Lisa Bowser each completed and passed the required exams and have all received their designations from the IRS.  With these designations we feel that RPCSI as an ERISA Consulting/TPA Firm will be better able to serve our clients and will be able to represent our clients if necessary in front of the IRS.
